What is CBD?

CBD stands for cannabidiol, which is one of over 113 different cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. Cannabinoids are the main active compounds in cannabis.

What’s the difference between CBD and THC?

Although CBD and THC have the same molecular structure, the way their atoms are arranged is different. Because of this, they affect you differently. Whereas THC is known to cause psychoactive effects such as euphoria and impaired memory, CBD is completely non-intoxicating. In other words, it won’t get you high.

What is the difference between cannabis, hemp, and marijuana?

Cannabis is a plant species that has two main varieties: hemp and marijuana. Hemp has high CBD and low THC levels (no more than 0.3%). On the other hand, marijuana plants have high THC and lower CBD levels. Almost all CBD products are made from hemp because it’s legal and doesn’t contain enough THC to cause intoxication.

What is CBD oil?

CBD oil is a liquid extract made from the aerial (above ground) parts of the hemp plant. It typically contains a carrier oil to help our bodies absorb CBD because it’s fat-soluble. The most common CBD carrier oil is coconut-derived medium chain triglyceride (MCT) oil.

Does CBD get you high?

CBD does not get you high. However, most CBD products are made with full spectrum extract, which contains all of the cannabinoids in hemp, including trace amounts of THC (0.3% or less). Unless you’re highly sensitive to THC, this small amount is not enough to cause any psychoactive side effects. More importantly, our products are made with broad spectrum extract, which completely removes all traces of THC.

What’s the difference between full spectrum, broad spectrum, and CBD isolate?

These are three types of CBD extract. Full spectrum CBD contains all of the cannabinoids, terpenes, and other natural compounds found in hemp. Broad spectrum CBD is the same, except it contains zero THC. CBD isolate contains only pure CBD and nothing else. Full and broad spectrum CBD extracts are considered more effective because of the synergy between their many constituents.

How do I consume CBD?

There are four major ways to take CBD: topically, orally (edibles/capsules), under the tongue (oils/tinctures/sprays), and via inhalation (vaping). Taking CBD under the tongue, where it’s absorbed through the blood vessels, is the most popular method.

Where does your hemp come from?

All of the hemp used in Opulent Organics products is grown in Colorado: the U.S. hemp industry leader. It’s cultivated outdoors and is nourished by the sun, rain, and rich valley soil.

Opulent hemp is grown using all natural farming practices, and no pesticides, chemicals, or solvents are used during cultivation. Non-GMO, kosher, and eco-friendly, our hemp is pure and natural goodness.

How is CBD extracted? What method do you use for extraction?

Opulent uses a unique method that combines the two best cannabis/hemp extraction methods: supercritical carbon dioxide (C02) and ethanol.

The CO2 extraction process uses pressurized carbon dioxide to isolate the desired compounds from hemp plant material: cannabinoids, terpenes, flavnoids, and other phytochemicals. This extraction process creates an amber-colored oil. Lastly, the waxes and fats are removed, leaving behind only the active ingredients. Ethanol extraction works in a similar manner.

Our method ensures an extremely high concentration of cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavinoids in our products. No additives are necessary during extraction, guaranteeing a pure and safe cannabinoid extract free from heavy metals and solvents.

Our extract then undergoes further purification to eliminate THC to a detectable level of 0.0%.

Is CBD legal?

CBD made from hemp, which is a variety of cannabis with 0.3% or less THC, are perfectly legal. The 2018 Farm Bill made hemp legal on the federal level in the United States.

How does CBD work?

CBD works in two main ways. First, it suppresses an enzyme that breaks down endocannabinoids, which increases their levels and helps support endocannabinoid system function. Second, CBD seems to interact with various receptors in the body, such as the serotonin receptor.

What is the endocannabinoid system?

Discovered in the 1990s, the endocannabinoid system is a major biological regulatory system. It helps our bodies maintain a healthy state of balance called homeostasis by regulating mood, stress, metabolism, brain function, immunity, and much more.

This system consists of the endocannabinoids anandamide and 2-AG (cannabinoids produced by our bodies), cannabinoid receptors (CB1 and CB2), and the enzymes that build and break down endocannabinoids. The endocannabinoid system is 600 million years old; it’s found in all mammals and many other organisms.

Has CBD been studied?

There are hundreds of studies on the health effects of CBD. ProjectCBD is a great resource if you’re interested in checking out CBD research.

Does it have side effects?

Some studies of CBD have noted minor side effects such as dry mouth, drowsiness, and low blood pressure. However, these side effects were only reported when using high servings (300 mg and higher).

Would CBD show up on a drug test?

Marijuana drug tests look for the presence of THC. Since our products have zero THC, you don’t have to worry about anything showing on a drug test. However, if you were to use full-spectrum products that contain THC, then you could possibly fail a drug test.

How much CBD should I take? Is there a recommended serving?

The ideal CBD serving depends on many factors, so it’s hard to suggest a serving size that works for everyone. However, most people take about 10-80 mg of CBD daily. One helpful starting point is to consume 1 mg of CBD per 10 pounds of body weight. Therefore, a 150-pound individual can begin with a 15 mg serving. We recommend starting with the lowest possible CBD serving and gradually increasing it until you experience the desired effects.

Do our bodies create a tolerance to CBD?

Researchers are still exploring this topic. However, it’s too early to tell. In any case, we recommend using CBD daily for best effects.

What kind of CBD do your products contain?

Our products are made with broad-spectrum CBD extract. This type of whole-plant extract contains CBD alongside all other hemp cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids, but with zero THC. This way, you benefit from the holistic synergy between the many active compounds in cannabis (the “entourage effect”) without having to worry about THC intoxication.

Are you products safe?

Our products are completely safe. They contain 0% THC and do not have any pesticides, solvents, or other contaminants. All of our products come with a QR code as well as a batch number. These are linked to third-party lab reports performed by an independent laboratory that show how much CBD and other cannabinoids are in our products.

Can I see your lab reports?

Yes, all of our third-party lab reports can be retrieved from our website under the learn section.

What’s the right product for me?

Generally speaking, CBD oil tinctures are the best all-around CBD product. However, every product has its own unique advantages. For example, softgels are easy to use and portable, while creams work best for localized concerns. Start by figuring out your needs and then look for the product that suits them best.

Can I take your CBD products with prescription medications?

We recommend consulting a qualified healthcare professional if you’re currently taking prescription medications. Similar to grapefruit, large servings of CBD may affect a group of enzymes called P450 that metabolize about 60% of all prescription medications. This means taking a large serving of CBD can influence the effects of your medication.
